The same as an on-shore fund, the Thai Trust Fund has Thai nationality and can therefore invest beyond foreign shareholding limits. Thai Trust Fund is an open-ended mutual fund investing in stock traded on the SET's Main Board and issues mutual fund units to foreign investors. One unit of the mutual fund will correspond to one share in the listed company.

The portfolio of each Thai Trust Fund shall comprise one company's shares only. In order to comply with laws related to individual holding restrictions, it may be necessary to set up more than one Thai Trust Fund for each company's shares. Each Thai Trust Fund will be treated as a separate entity.

Listed Companies can participate in the Thai Trust Fund scheme on a voluntary basis by allowing the Thai Trust Fund to invest in the maximum permissible percentage of their shares.
